Matches Cookies - Homemade Pocky

Match Cookies. I found this recipe in some pastry book , which was printed 10 years ago...

The other day i was craving for some Pocky in the evening, and while flipping through the book, I came across this recipe that resembles bloated Pocky sticks. The next thing knew, I was already in the kitchen preparing the ingredients.

The ingredients are easy enough.

Ingredients A

120 gram margarine
100 gram icing sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
2 egg yolks

Ingredients B

250 grams flour

Ingredients C

100 gram melted chocolate

How to do it

1. Mix the Ingredient A, and beat it until creamy , stir in ingredient B and make a dough.
2. The book said to flatten and cut into stick shapes, which i found it hard to do. Instead, i using the piping bag to squeeze out strips of sticks. It worked well enough.
3. Bake at 160'c for 15 minutes and remove from oven and leave it cool on the wire rack.
4. When it cooled enough, dip the stick in the melted chocolate and leave it to dry on a baking paper.
5. Once the chocolate is dry you can store it in a container and fridge it.

That's it!

德国酥-German Cookies

During the last Chinese New Year , I was reading though some blog to have some idea for the chinese new year cookies. And I can across this cookie called German Cookies. The ingredients was super easy to find and easy to do as well.

The taste was nice, fluffy, crunchy ...and melt in the mouth too, just a lovely cookie to have during the Chinese New Year.

This recipe was takn from another blogger's post , and its a popular choice for the year of 2011 chinese new year. I bake this cookies 4 times for my mom, sister, relatives and of course my colleagues in office to taste. The feedback was good and out of my expectation...

So far there is no complain about this cookies, since everyone likes it. So let see how this cookies was made

All you need are the 4 items below

125 gram butter(unsalted) in room temperature
40 gram icing sugar
125 gram potatoes starch
80 gram plain flour / superfine flour

1.Preheat the oven 150'c
2.Cream the butter and icing sugar together until white and fluffy
3.Mix the starch and flour with the butter mixture and form into soft dough.
4.Scoop the batter using a teaspoon and roll into a small ball.
5. Arrange the ball into a baking sheet and press lightly with a fork.
6. Bake the cookies in the preheat oven for 20 minutes ( need not baked cookies until golden brown)

Notes
-To prevent the cookies dough stick on to the fork, dip the fork into the water before each use. This is very useful seriously.

- 9 to 10 grams each ball that makes 30 to 35 pieces.
